Size advice

Carefully selecting the right size compression garment is critical to successful recovery after surgery. A correct size guarantees optimal compression on the required zones, which contributes to your recovery and the prevention of possible complications. Below you will find important information about how to determine the correct size.

Size and measurement charts
When selecting the correct size compression garment, it is essential to consult the size chart of the relevant brand, as each brand we offer has its own sizing. Detailed size charts are available on our website on the product page, which contain specific information about the measurements required to determine the correct size, including the circumference of the relevant body parts.

How do I measure myself?
In the size chart you will find the body parts that need to be measured, depending on the type of product. It is important to follow the specific instructions carefully. Here are the main metrics:

1. Chest: Measure around the fullest part of your chest, under the arms.
2. Underbust: Measure around the bottom of your chest, just below the breasts.
3. Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, usually just above the belly button.
4. Hip circumference: Place the measuring tape around the widest part of your hips.
5. Upper leg circumference (thigh): Measure approximately 10 cm below the gluteal muscle.
6. Calf circumference: Measure around the widest part of your calf.
7. Arm circumference: Measure the upper part of your arm, just below the armpit.
8. Ankle circumference: Measure around the narrowest part of your ankle.
9. Size of the area to be treated**: This may vary per product, so measure carefully here too.

How do I measure correctly?
A flexible measuring tape is required to accurately measure your body parts. Please observe the following guidelines:

 - Do not wear thick clothing: Preferably wear a thin layer or no clothing to ensure the accuracy of the measurements.

- Measure at the right time: It is advisable to measure in the morning, when your body has not yet swollen due to heat or activity.

- Do not hold the measuring tape too tight: Make sure that the measuring tape lies straight around your body and does not cut into your skin, but is not too loose either. The measuring tape should have a comfortable fit.

- Ask for help: If possible, enlist the help of another person to take the measurements. This can improve accuracy, especially in hard-to-reach areas.

- Write down your measurements: Write down each measurement immediately to avoid confusion when comparing it to the size charts.

Moisture level and variation in sizes
It is important to note that the correct size of compression garment may vary depending on your fluid retention after the surgical procedure. It is advisable to have a fitting prior to treatment to obtain an indication of the suitable size. To ensure that there is sufficient compression in the required areas at all times, we recommend purchasing two different sizes. This allows you to adjust the size as the fluid decreases, while continuing to benefit from the compression throughout your recovery period.

Advice for a second copy
Since compression clothing usually needs to be worn 24 hours a day, we often recommend purchasing a second one. This allows you to wash one set while wearing the other. You usually lose fluids and body fluids due to factors such as anesthesia and medication, and with a clean one you ensure that your hygiene remains in order. Having a second one allows you to stay comfortable and ensures the necessary hygiene during your recovery process.

Difference between ready-to-wear and compression clothing
Please note that ready-to-wear garments fit differently than compression garments. The size you wear in your everyday clothes is not a reliable comparison for compression clothing. Therefore, it is essential to choose the size based on your accurate measurements and not on your usual clothing size.

Always consult your doctor for advice on the duration of wearing the compression garment and which type is most suitable for your situation. Your medical specialist can give you valuable advice to support you in making the right choice.
